Random Factoid Post: 6/15/14

Hello students!

Have you ever heard of or seen this funny looking fellow before?

This is what's called a Star Nosed Mole. It is covered in thick, blackish-brown, water-repellent fur, and has large scaled feet and a long, thick tail. The mole's most distinctive feature is a circle of 22 mobile, pink, fleshy tentacles at the end of its snout, from which it derives its name. These are used to identify food by touch, such as worms, insects and crustaceans. They can be found in eastern Canada and north eastern United States. You might be able to see one, if you dig around your yard, that is!

Discussion Post: 6/9/14

On today's blog post, the topic of discussion is going to be phones in the classroom. I know what my stance is on the issue, as well as what school policy may say, but I would like to know what you, as students, feel about phone use during school hours. Now, maybe some of you think it's necessary; what if there's an emergency, or on a less serious note, you forgot your calculator and need it to complete the assignment for the day? Some may feel differently, like the phones are a distraction. There have been complaints about students walking down the halls, listening to music on speaker, which is a distraction as well as a disturbance.
